The Grace of God, Chapter 13 (part 1)

Read Chapter 13 (download below) and consider your responses to the following:

  • J.I. Packer refers to Grace as a “doctrine”. For some reason, this word “doctrine” leads us to think of objective science and abstract dogma. And yet the subject stirs to our souls and quickens our hearts (hence, J.I. Packer’s many references to joyful hymns in this chapter!). What use might “doctrine” be to our spiritual growth?
  • How does this doctrine of Grace stir your soul? What is at stake? Why does it matter?

Now address your response(s) to God in prayer

This was a wonderful chapter and I have gained a fresh understanding of God’s Grace being not just for our individual salvation and forgiveness of sins but underpinning all our relations with him and his whole plan of salvation from the beginning into eternity as described in Ephesians 1-2. Grace is the motivating force in everything God does and his praise is the ultimate goal ! Thanks J.I Packer !
